Fun Fact of the Day: April 26, 2012
I almost think we should start calling this series “Fun Animal Fact of the Day” since the last few have all been critter-related. Today’s is about a carnivorous amphibian known as the Mudpuppy. One of the few salamanders that makes a sound (it gets its name from the bark-like vocalization it makes), the mudpuppy has a great way to avoid death by fisherman. Many fisherman incorrectly believe mudpuppies to be poisonous will often cut their line when they hook one, rather than capturing it.
