(Sobering) Fact of the Day: April 15, 2012

One-hundred years ago today, the RMS Titanic hit an iceberg and sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean during her voyage from Southampton, England to New York City. The largest ship afloat at the time of the voyage, the Titanic carried 2,224 people, 1,514 of which died in what was one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. The Titanic’s resting place off the coast of Newfoundland was discovered in 1985.
